NBA legend Sean Bathier: LeBron did something Jordan could not do once in the Heat
4:54am, 10 June 2025【Basketball】

Former NBA defensive ace Sean Bathier played for the Miami Heat in the "Big Three" era, ending his 13-year NBA career and making a huge contribution to Miami's collective success. In his three seasons with the Heat, he won two championship trophys in 2012 and 2013 along with LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.
Battier made an important contribution to the Miami Heat's two championship trips. First, he made 23 appearances in the 2012 NBA playoffs, including 16 starts, with a three-point shooting percentage of up to 38.2%. Secondly, he made 22 substitutes in the 2013 NBA playoffs.
Battier recently said on a podcast that James did something that Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan could not do at once during his time at the Heat.
"I think LeBron did something Jordan could not do once," Bathir said. "He led Sean Battier as the starting power forward and won two NBA championships. Jordan absolutely couldn't do it. Although Jordan was great, LeBron dragged me across the finish line."
Battier may still remember his time at the Heat, after all that was a long time ago. Although he did start most of the games in the 2012 playoffs when the Heat won the championship, he didn't make it to the starting lineup at all in the 2013 playoffs.
Therefore, James has won a championship in the starting lineup including Bathir, which can only be said to be true.
It is also worth noting that Battier's remarks may underestimate his impact on the Heat. During his time at the Miami Heat, he was a very outstanding player with both offense and defense. In Game 7 of the 2013 NBA Finals, he even came out of the bench to shoot 6 three-pointers, helping the Heat win the championship.
Jordan and Battier have never worked together at the NBA level, because when Battier started his career in the 2001-02 season, Jordan was already in his twilight years of his career. Jordan played for the NBA in 2002-03.
Battier may not be the most talented player James has ever worked with, or even far from that, but Battier has played a key role in many championship-winning teams in his career.
