May 14th According to the Sun, Watford Club announced the appointment of Uruguayan Paul Pezzolano as the team's new head coach, the 42-year-old coach took office just one week after the team fired Clevily.

Clevili took over the team as interim coach in March this year and became a regular in a month. However, Cleville was eventually fired as Watford lost his chance to advance to the playoffs in the second half of the season. Watford had only five victories in 2025, leaving after the team draws 1-1 with Xie Wednesday.

However, appointing Pezzolano seems to be a risk, with his only coaching experience in Europe being the head coach of Valladolid from April 2023 to November last year. Prior to this, Pezzolano coached Uruguayan team Montevideo's Aliverpool and Montevideo's Alan Nationals, as well as Mexican team Pachuca and Brazilian team Cruzero.

Watford Sports Director Gian Luca Nani said in a statement: "Paul has a unique approach in developing young players, which is crucial to our team's age structure. He has achieved success in almost every club, including league titles and upgrades, but what impressed us the most was his work on the training ground."

"He has innovative ideas and methods and is able to impart passionately to the players. We believe Paul is the leader we need and we will refocus on the new season. He fully understands our ambitions, is determined to strive for upgrades, and is willing to accept this challenge."

"The club has achieved great success in the past appointing Yokanovic, Gracia and Munoz, and we hope that fans will welcome Paul and wish him success in helping us achieve our goal of returning to the Premier League."
