Liverpool determines "primary candidate" to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool still regards Leverkusen right-back Jeremy Frimpon as the "primary candidate" to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer, a report said.
Earlier this month, the Reds confirmed Alexander Arnold's decision to leave the club in a free transfer after his contract expires, and Real Madrid is expected to confirm his arrival in the coming weeks.
Losing Alexander Arnold will leave a major loophole in Liverpool's backline. Head coach Arn Slott seems to be confident in Connor Bradley, who is also a Youth Camp graduate, but Anfield's team may still get into the transfer market to further strengthen the players' strength.
Frimpon has long been touted as Liverpool's number one target, and The Times insisted that interest in the Dutch remained ahead of the summer transfer window. The
Dutch's contract includes a termination clause of approximately £30m, a fee that attracted the interest of many European parties. While £30m is an affordable number for Liverpool, it is believed that the Reds have other priorities in the summer window. Signing a new striker for Slot is the main goal and could take up a large part of Liverpool’s budget.
Another central defender is also considered to be wanted, and it is believed that Liverpool will seek these deals before deciding whether to try to introduce a new right back. Aside from Bradley, Liverpool does have all-around defenders Joe Gomez and Jarrell Kunsa to seek cover, but both natural centre-backs are linked to transfers elsewhere. The departure of at least one of the two may force the recruiting team to take action.
