Why do the Warriors look down on Monk + a first-round transfer of Kuminga, who averages 17 points and 5.6 assists per game?

Microsoft Sam Amick reported that according to sources, the King had a last conversation with the Warriors and provided Kuminga with a three-year, $63 million contract offer. The plan includes sending defender Monk and the 2030 first round pick (loto protection) to the Warriors.
If this draft pick is not fulfilled in that year, it will become the first round pick in 2031 (the one with the lower pick in the Kings and the Spurs).
The Warriors refused.
24-25 season, Monk averaged 17.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game, and is still an offensive weapon. But why are the Warriors unwilling to ask for Monk?
Because Monk's offensive efficiency has declined, and he is a defender with strong offense and weak defense that the Warriors don't like. The offensive end is unstable like a nerve knife, and the defensive end is easily targeted.
Monk averages 31.6 minutes per game with the Kings. If he goes to the Warriors, he will not be treated like this. After Fox left, his shooting percentage dropped to only 43.9%, and his three-point shooting percentage was only 32.5%. He averaged 5.6 assists per game and had to lose 2.4 turnovers.
is simply synonymous with inefficiency. In the 23-24 season, he reached his peak at the Kings. He averaged 15.4 points and 5.1 assists per game in 26 minutes. If he was not injured, he would probably win the best sixth man. When the king was happy, he offered him a four-year, 78 million contract.
However, the King's backcourt changes a bit.
Fox is gone.
Ellis stole part of the time in the backcourt with his iron-blooded defense and stable and efficient three-pointers.
LaVine is here.
24-25 season, averaged 22.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, shooting percentage of 51.1%, three-point shooting percentage of 44.6%, and free throws of 87.4%.
LaVine is better than Monk's offense, and her defense is not worse than Monk's. More importantly, LaVin has 215 million contracts with 2 years and 96.4 million, and it will end in 2027. Lavin has no deal now, and the King doesn't want to take the draft pick to send him out.
So, Monk's contract of about 20 million is better handled than Lavin. Especially Monk can play as a substitute anywhere, and the role adaptability is more convenient than Lavender.
So, the king wanted to send Monk away.
Although the Warriors knew that Monk was a very good defender, especially in November 2023, when the Kings played against the Warriors, Monk scored 5 points in a row in the last quarter, including a high-difficulty mid-range shot in the last 7 seconds, and accurately defeated the Warriors, scoring 21 points alone to help the Kings complete a 24-point reversal.
But the Warriors defenders gathered. Although only nine of the Warriors' roster currently have formal contracts, there are four defenders, Curry, Hilder, Pojemsky and Moody. They also verbally agreed to sign Melton, and Payton Jr. is also waiting for the Warriors' actions.
Warriors and the Suns talked about Kumingga signing first and then changing, and asked Dunn for the name, and when negotiating with the King, Keegan Murray and Ellis. It is obvious that what the Warriors want is a 3D defender who can defend and shoot three-pointers.
Therefore, the Warriors do not want to accept Monk.
As for the lottery first round pick, of course the Warriors don't want it, because there is no guarantee at all. The first round of picks in 2030, the king was probably already in reconstruction at that time. After the show was bad, he would get a lottery.
The Warriors get an ordinary first-round pick, so this first-round pick is of little significance to the Warriors in the Curry era after 2030.
The King and the Warriors knew it very well. These draft pick protection clauses are the main reason for the stalemate between the two sides, and the Warriors insist that the first round pick must be unprotected, and the King disagreed.
Therefore, the negotiations are deadlocked.
This is not the first time that Monk has been placed on the trading shelves by the king. When he signed Schroeder, the king almost sent Monk away. I don't want to stay anymore. The King's 15-person list is full, with only $7.3 million left to the luxury tax line. Trading Monk can free up space to sign Westbrook.
All signs indicate that Monk will likely leave Sacramento in the new season.
