After being cut by the Jazz, they quickly joined the Pelicans, but the first-round pick of the top 76ers can only get a non-guaranteed contract

The New Orleans Pelicans officially announced on social media that the team has signed Jaden Springer, a defender who was previously in free agency. Just a few days ago, the Utah Jazz announced that the team had waived Springer, whose contract was not guaranteed next season. The details of Springer's contract have not been disclosed yet, but considering that the Pelicans have just filled three places in the two-way contract, Springer is no longer qualified to sign a two-way contract. Basically, we can also be sure that what he should get is a training camp contract or a non-guaranteed contract. He needs to win himself the opportunity to stay in the team through his performance in training camp and preseason.

Springer was born in September 2002 and is not yet 23 years old. He is 193cm tall and weighs 91kg. He is a backcourt player from the University of Tennessee who was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 28th pick in the first round in the 2021 NBA Draft. In the NBA arena, in addition to the 76ers, Springer also played for the Boston Celtics and the Jazz, but overall, his performance in the NBA is not satisfactory, and his abilities have not been substantially improved and improved, which is also an important factor in his continuous trade in these two seasons. Springer has made a total of 110 appearances in the NBA regular season, averaging 8.8 minutes per game, averaging 2.9 points, 1.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.2 blocks, and 0.7 turnovers and 1.5 fouls. He shot 40.9%, three-point shooting percentage 23.7%, and free throw shooting percentage 70.6%.

Springer was sent to the Houston Rockets by the Celtics in a deal before the trading deadline last season, and then he was directly cut by the Rockets. Springer has since joined the Jazz again, but was cut by the team this summer. After joining the Jazz, Springer made a total of 17 appearances in the NBA regular season, averaging 13.2 minutes per game, averaging 3.8 points, 2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.2 blocks, and 0.7 turnovers and 1.5 fouls. He shot 41.1% from the field, 20.7% from three-point shooting percentage and 70.6% from free throws. After joining the Jazz, Springer still showed outstanding personal abilities on the defensive end, but his performance on the offensive end is still very unsatisfactory. His scoring ability is very limited, his organization and tandem ability are seriously insufficient, and his stability in outside shooting is even worse.

Previously, Springer also represented the Jazz in the NBA Summer League. He played 3 games in the summer league, averaging 15.9 minutes per game, averaging 3.7 points, 3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.7 steals, and 1 turnover and 1.3 fouls, with a shooting percentage of 33.3% and a three-point shooting percentage of 25%. Springer's performance in the summer league is also very disappointing. As a player with many years of experience in the NBA and NBA Development League, he still did not show any competitiveness on the offensive end in the summer league. He still seriously dragged the team down on the offensive end, which seems very disappointing. I don’t know if Springer can play his strength in the next training camp and preseason games and win the opportunity to stay with the Pelicans.
