On June 2, Kobe's widow Vanessa updated social media, responding to the recent rumors that she was pregnant. She shared a Rihanna emoticon in IG Story, and wrote that she was "not pregnant" and is currently focusing on "protecting inner peace" while "enjoying the happiness of the whole summer."

U.S. media Game7 reported that multiple sources confirmed that there are currently no verified reports that Vanessa is raising her fifth child or being in a romantic relationship. Related speculation seems to stem from fake pictures and misleading copywriting circulating on social media.

Vanessa, 43, has been focusing on raising three daughters - Natalia, 22, Bianca, 8 and Capri, 5, after losing her husband Kobe and daughter Gianna in January 2020. She often shares family life clips on social media, including recent winter vacation videos of her daughters skiing, and footage of her family’s Disneyland trip last year.

Her recent IG post reveals her current mentality: sharing inspirational content, emphasizing that "pure soul and kindness" are more important than material wealth; another post wrote, "I am not mean, I just don't be abusive", which is suspected to respond to unnecessary speculations from the outside world about her private life.

She also wrote in a post: "The only way I can appreciate is to be a kind person. I don't care what you have, what you wear, where you live, or what car you drive. I only have deep respect for those who have pure hearts and good intentions."

When the University of Connecticut won the NCAA women's basketball championship in April 2025, Vanessa shared a touching text, mentioning that Gianna, who was once a young basketball star, "will like to watch the game on the spot very much", and congratulated coach Kang on leading the team to win the 12th national championship. The helicopter accident in January 2020 that claimed Kobe and Gianna's lives also killed seven other people. Kobe was 41 years old when he was killed, and Jaina was only 13 years old. She was already a highly anticipated star of hope in the women's basketball world.

Recent pregnancy rumors have sparked criticism from fans who believe this speculation lacks respect for those who have experienced major life tragedies. Social media users also expressed concerns about the spread of false rumors about public figures without verification.
