The management company withdrew the lawsuit after Jones failed to appear in court. But in August 2023, the company again sent Jones an eviction notice, this time claiming he owed more than $11,000 in back rent. Records show Jones again failed to appear in court, and a judge entered a default judgment in favor of the company, granting ownership of the apartment and an $11,240 money judgment against Jones.

Jones’ financial woes allegedly date back to at least 2013, when his first bankruptcy filing was denied. Two years later, he filed for bankruptcy again. This time, he reported liabilities ranging from $500,000 to $1 million and claimed to own assets worth between $10,000 and $50,000, court records show. Records show Jones owes creditors about $640,000 and owes the Bellagio Hotel and Casino $47,000 for a "default/admittance of judgment."

In 2019, another person emerged claiming that Jones owed him money. Scott-Kerr filed a civil lawsuit against Jones, seeking monetary relief of $100,000 or less. According to the complaint, Jones loaned Kerr $10,000. The money, plus $4,000 in fees, was due to be repaid by August 28, 2017. Jones failed to repay the loan, and the collateral he provided for Kerr's loan was his 2016 NBA championship ring, the complaint said, adding that he also failed to deliver that collateral.

According to previous reports, Damon Jones was accused of allegedly leaking confidential injury information of a "well-known" basketball player to assist illegal sports betting, and the well-known player was James.
