Revealing the Fairy Friendship of Harry Clark: Each of them has a date with 4 partners. He refused to cheer for her in college

On June 14, ESPN's long article revealed the fairy friendship between Halliburton and Clark. As the core of the two Indiana basketball teams, what is the relationship between them?

Halilburton made the greatest shot of his career in the first Eastern Conference Finals at Madison Square Garden. The Pacers celebrated this incredible reversal victory, with congratulations and phone calls coming in like a tide.

But Halliburton had a problem: he landed his phone charger in Indiana, so he was about to miss all the news.

At this stage of the playoffs, few people can get a phone call, let alone get a reply. But there is a group chat that is always active and Halliburton doesn't want to miss all the chat content this evening.

There are four people in this group: Halliburton, his long-time girlfriend Jed Jones, the fanatic superstar Caitlyn Clark, and her boyfriend McCaffrey.

"We're chatting 24/7," Halliburton told ESPN.

The Pacers' best player and the fanatics' best player are close friends. They don’t just watch each other’s games and send congratulations on social media. The Indiana Basketball’s current “King” and “Queen” will have a four-person date with their partner, constantly talking about the pressures of basketball and superstars.

"The four of us are hanging out together," Halliburton mentioned the four people's dates, "She has gone through a lot, as you know. She has a lot of pressure and attention. Obviously I have it, but she has a million times the pressure."

Back in Madison Square Garden, after Halliburton made a great shot in a key position, everyone wanted to talk to him. The shot bounced high from the rim and then crossed the net to tie the score at the end of regular time, then he mimicked Pacers legend Reggie Miller's suffocation gesture, destroying the Knicks' hope.

Meanwhile, Clark is away in Atlanta. In her hotel room, she was so excited about her friend’s shots and the Pacers’ victory in overtime that she recorded her crazy reaction to the winning goal.

"I have a video on my phone that I will never show to anyone," Clark told reporters in Atlanta the next day. "I recorded my real-time reaction to the last shot. It's a pretty iconic video. Maybe one day you'll see it, but not now."

Halliburton has seen this video. Of course, she had posted it in the group chat.

"She was going crazy!" Halliburton said.

"I'm scolding too much (in the video)," Clark said when explaining to ESPN why she wouldn't share that video publicly. She also said she recorded almost all of Halliburton’s winning goals this season and saved them as a memory — or maybe one day it will be used for a project. The only thing she didn't record was the winning goal he scored with 0.3 seconds left in the first game of the Finals against the Thunder.

"I was having a video call with (teammates) Sophie Cunningham and Lexi Hull the whole game," Clark said, "but at the end, I thought, 'I have to hang up the video, I have to watch this. I can't focus on two things at the same time.'"

She considered recording her reaction to whatever happened in the last attack.

"But then I thought, 'No, it's impossible. Four times in a row?'" Clark said, "So I didn't take out my phone against the Thunder, but I was on the couch and went crazy." Hours later, Halliburton posted Clark's congratulations on social media to their group chat.

"I was like, 'Good Ball, Ty (Harry's nickname).'" Clark said, "How many times can you tell him? It's great."

So the most powerful friendship in basketball exists in Indianapolis, where two stars in their 20s are pushing themselves and each other to the top of the basketball world.

"Halliburton and I will tell you that this is where we all want to be for the rest of our career," Clark said. "People say, 'This is a small market.' But no, that's exactly where it's interesting. These guys, that's the whole world for them. We haven't had the Finals in 25 years, and I've never seen such excitement. People start line up three hours before the game. I get goosebumps at the thought of this."

"They're the same with the fanatics. I think like (Pacers coach) Rick Carlisle said, 'In the other 49 states, it's basketball, but here it's really different.' I'm lucky to be able to play here, and he's the same."

Clark seems to have brought good luck to the Pacers in this playoffs. In these playoff home games where Clark watched, the Pacers won 8 and lost 0.

"Trust me," Halliburton said of Clark's influence, "I know. If I don't know, everyone will make sure I know."

Their friendship started quite simply, a few years ago.

Clark's boyfriend McCaffrey is a Pacers' player development intern who played against Halliburton at college—Haliburton at Iowa State University and McCaffrey at Iowa—but their friendship only developed after McCaffrey joined the Pacers.

"Connor and I always talk about the (Clark's) journey," Halliburton said, "but before she graduated from college, I refused to cheer for Caitlyn because I won't cheer for the University of Iowa."

As the season went on, it was obvious that the Fanatics had a good chance to pick Clark with the No. 1 pick, and Halliburton finally softened.

Harry's girlfriend Jones is from Iowa and has become a huge fan of Clark when she rewrites the record in college. Finally Halliburton decided to change his position. They went out for supper and have been good friends ever since.

Halliburton has been watching the Fanatics since being traded to the Pacers in February 2022. The team performed poorly that season, with only 5 wins and 31 losses, and the atmosphere was completely different from the noisy crowds that are now crowded with the arena. However, after Clark came to Indiana, Halliburton had to buy season tickets because those sideline seats were in high demand. The average number of attendees at home in the fanatics jumped from more than 4,000 per game in 2023 to more than 17,000 per game in 2024. The connection between Halliburton and Clark is unique. They learn from each other, they push each other. “After I had 10 turnovers, he would text me and say, ‘Good triple-double.’” Clark said. That's how they push each other. But it is also their way of supporting each other.

"I'm kidding with her," Halliburton said, "but she will do what she should do. She will continue to grow. She will make the right choices most of the time.

"Basketball is a gender-free language. We all just love the sport. ”
