Polish coach: Lewandowski will return to the national team, and the captain s appointment will be discussed with the players before deciding

August 13, reported by each sports team that the head coach of the Polish national team talked with Lewandowski to confirm his willingness to return.

Lewandowski said he would withdraw from the national team after being stripped of his captain's armband. However, after the new head coach Jan Orban took office, the two sides communicated to resolve the dispute.

Orban revealed in a radio interview that he had spoken with the Barcelona striker and asked if he would like to return to the national team. "I asked Lewandowski if he wanted to come back, and he said yes, so we've taken a step forward."

Although Lewandowski has agreed to return, it's still up to date whether he can put on the captain's armband again. In response, Orban said that further discussions are needed with other players before the final decision can be made.

"I want to talk to him not only, but also listen to the opinions of other players, such as Zelinsky and others. Although this decision is up to me, I want to know what everyone thinks."

Due to the injury, Lewandowski will miss the opening stage of the 2025-26 La Liga season and the national team match expected to be held in early September. Currently, Poland ranks third in the World Cup qualifiers group, behind the Netherlands and Finland. Next, they will challenge the Netherlands away on September 4 and then host Finland at home, both games that are crucial to the Polish team.
