October 16th News Merino, who plays for Arsenal, has been in hot form for the Spanish national team recently. He scored six goals in four games and has become a much-needed scoring point for the team. In an interview, his father Merino revealed the "secret" of his son's outstanding heading ability.

What’s the secret to your son’s heading ability?

We always played together when he was little, and he stayed with the ball all day long. When we were watching TV at home, he would say to me: "Throw the ball to me and let me header it." I would say: "Here, head the ball into that sofa." I would just watch TV and play with him at the same time. Later he refined the skill because he was a very hardworking player. Indeed, you need to have a special sense of timing to calculate the speed of the ball and which part you need to use to top it...

Some people compare him to Santillana, what do you think?

That is simply incredible, because Santillana is not very tall, but his leg strength is amazing, he can stop himself in the air, and then head the ball to where he wants to head. Mikel is taller and doesn't have that leg strength, but in the second goal he showed he's capable of scoring great goals.

Which is his most important goal?

In terms of importance, I think his best goal was scored against Germany in the quarter-finals of the European Cup. That ball was brilliant because he did a twist to adjust himself and put the ball into the goal. This is probably the most important because it became an iconic image with so much meaning.

How would you define the type of player your son is?

He is a "forward" player who can create offensive opportunities, and he can run without the ball without the center back being aware of it.
