Chairman of the Referee Technical Committee talks about Real Madrid’s controversial penalty: I personally think the referee’s penalty is correct

November 25th: The battle between Elche and Real Madrid was mired in controversy. Elche players strongly protested against Real Madrid's second goal because Vinicius may have fouled Peña before Bellingham put the ball into the back of the net to level 2-2 in the 87th minute.
Elche coach Sarabia commented after the game: "This is obviously a foul. It is not a normal action at all. VAR exists for this. This foul is very obvious. He hit the goalkeeper and even caused the opponent to bleed. It couldn't be more obvious."

Regarding this penalty, the Spanish Football Association referee Fran Soto, chairman of the referee technical committee, said: "Well, today's game is not over yet, there is still one last game. The technical committee will meet between this afternoon and tomorrow to discuss various penalties. As I always say, the final decision, that is, the final decision within the entire referee committee (CTA), lies with the technical committee, who is responsible for judging the referees I don’t have definite information yet, they will tell me the result eventually.”
“Personally, I will always side with the referee even if there is even a slight doubt. So, I personally think that the referee’s decision is correct. But, again, I emphasize that this is not the opinion of the Referee Technical Committee (CTA). It's my personal opinion as a fan. I'm still waiting for the technical committee to carefully review the video. Different camera angles, different perspectives, will have different interpretations. I emphasize that they are currently meeting to review the video. They will announce their decision tomorrow."
