Windhorst warns the Knicks: Celtics miss 32 open 3 points, can t count on again

ESPN's Brian Windhorst sent a message to the New York Knicks telling them that while they won the first game, the Boston Celtics would not give up.

The New York Knicks won the best win of the season on Monday night. Jaylen Brunson led the team to a 108-105 victory over the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the second round of the series. However, ESPN's Brian Windhorst believes the Knicks aren't fully out of the way after a historic and bad shooting night for the Celtics.

Bostons missed a record 45 3-point shot in Game 1, the worst night of their shooting percentage so far throughout the season. Their poor shooting allowed Brunson and the Knicks to complete a 20-point comeback and win in overtime. Still, Windhorst believes that New York won’t get much help from the Celtics in the next series.

Bryan Windhorst said after the Knicks defeated the Boston Celtics:

"The Celtics missed 32 open threes," Windhorst said in combination with the game background. "I don't think they can expect the Celtics to hit all-time highs tonight."

Tatum and the Celtics are one of the most accurate three-pointers in the league, and their three-point shooting percentages are also top of the league. However, their over-reliance on three-pointers has left them suffering losses throughout the season, including Monday night’s game. Tatum himself missed 11 3-pointers in the game, one of the worst shooting percentages of his career.

In the series against the defending champion, the New York Knicks were clearly at a disadvantage in the first game. Winning a away game as a start is already better for them. With home court advantage, the Knicks only need to dominate the Madison Square Garden Stadium.

For the New York Knicks, this series is more than just advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals. Over the past 18 months, they have paid huge assets to introduce Carl Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges and OG Anunobi. When the team made these moves, they all took the Celtics into consideration and wanted to build a team that was most likely to beat the Celtics. them.

Brunson and his teammates hope to keep the momentum in the second game, but Windhorst's warning is correct. The defending champion is unlikely to perish as he did on Monday night.
