Turner: I never thought about leaving the Pacers. I thought the team would send an offer that was satisfactory to both parties.

On October 23, reporter Eric Nehm reported that Myles Turner said that he did not expect to leave Indiana during the offseason.

Turner said that after the finals, he went to Hawaii for vacation at the end of June, just in time for the opening of the free market. At that time, he fully believed that the team would offer him a contract extension, but the call never came.

Turner said: "I originally thought we would be on the same channel. I was 29 years old, at my peak, and knew what kind of contract I wanted, but it turned out that we had different ideas. This really surprised me, because I had a good talk with the management before leaving. I thought everyone recognized my future direction, so I was quite shocked."

According to league sources, despite multiple negotiations between the two parties, the Pacers' offer never exceeded three years and the average annual salary was no more than $22 million. Turner and his agent, Austin Brown, thought this was far below expectations and began looking for new opportunities. In the end, the Bucks stood out and offered him a four-year, $108.9 million contract.
