August 22 According to Ashish Mathur, a reporter from Dallashhoopsjournal, the king is "desperately" trading Malik Monk to make a place for Russell Westbrook.

He said: "A league source revealed to him that the Kings have been "decisively" trying to trade Monk during the offseason, but have not found a intentional next home so far. The move is to free up the roster for full free agent Westbrook. Sacramento (Kings) plans to have the former MVP serve as Schroder's substitute point guard as the sixth man."

Monk will be paid $18.8 million next season. The Kings had intentionally used Monk as a bargaining chip to trade non-restricted free agent Jonathan Cumingga, but the Warriors rejected the offer.

Monk played 65 games for the Kings last season, averaging 17.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks per game, shooting 43.9% from the field, 32.5% from three-pointers and 86.5% from free throws.
