Sources told ESPN today that free agent forward Dorian Finney Smith has reached a four-year, $53 million contract with the Houston Rockets.

Fenney Smith's agent, Michael Taylorm of Excel Sports, negotiated with Rockets executives on the terms of the 3D winger's contract.

This is a major acquisition for Houston and strengthens its front depth with a veteran who hits a career-high 41% from three-pointers. He also allowed players who were selected for the All-Star last season to shoot 47% effective shots in the half, ranking in the top ten of the players who defended at least 125 shots last season.

Finney Smith is a good helper around Durant

Finney Smith may replace Dylan Brooks in Houston's rotation after the Rockets replaced Kevin Durant with defensive players. In another move, the Rockets agreed to sign a three-year, $21.5 million contract with center Clint Capela, sources said.

Capela returns to Houston after spending the first seven years of her career with James Harden. The 30-year-old remains a strong left-wing threat and marginal protector and adds more depth to Houston's frontcourt, which already includes Alperen Shinkin, Steven Adams and Jabbarry Smith Jr. Capela's agent at Wasserman was in talks with Houston officials on Monday night on a comprehensive guarantee on the three-year contract.

32-year-old Finney Smith gave up his $15.4 million player option for the Los Angeles Lakers to become a free agent.

He joined the Lakers in December through a trade with Brooklyn and made an immediate impact. The veteran averaged less than 29 minutes of playing time for the Lakers and shot 39.8% from three-pointers.

As a versatile defender, Finney Smith was the key to making the small ball lineup work after the Lakers traded Luca Donic. Finney Smith has extensive experience in playing with Doncic, and the two spent five years together in Dallas.

As for the operations of the Rockets management this year, no one can scold them, right?
