Official: Valverde and Biba renew their contract until 2026, celebrating their 10th anniversary of coaching; it is the first in team history

According to the official news of Athletic Bilbao on May 23, head coach Valverde has renewed his contract until 2026.

Valverde has led Biba back to the Champions League this season, and he will open his 10th anniversary coaching milestone at the club. Today, he signed a one-year contract with the club, with the new contract lasting until June 30, 2026.

Valverde has led Biba to play 451 games, ranking first in team history, and is moving towards a 500-game milestone. The meritorious coach won back to the King's Cup last year for Biba. As a player and coach, he has played for the club for 21 years. Since the new century, Bilbao has only entered the Champions League twice, both of which came from Valverde's coaching period.

Valverde said after renewing the contract: "This is a major challenge. I feel the responsibility to the team and staff. When we work together, we are a strong team and look forward to breaking the limit. The Champions League is a huge dream. Although the competition is cruel, it is worth enjoying the whole team."
