If the Pacers win the championship, can Alexander win the FMVP? There is a precedent, but James lost the election

The 2024-2025 season finals are in full swing. After the first two games, the Pacers are currently drawing 1-1 with the Thunder. Based on his performance in the two finals, the NBA officially announced the latest FMVP list:

On this FMVP list, Caruso is on the list and ranks third, which is a huge surprise. A substitute player actually beats the second leader of the two division champions in the east and west, ranking third, which is unimaginable. However, in the first two games, Caruso did perform very well, not only with gorgeous data, but also has the value that cannot be reflected in the defense with data.

In terms of data, Alexander is a cliff-like lead. If the Thunder wins the championship, Alexander will likely be crowned the FMVP without any suspense; if the Pacers win the championship and Alexander's data is still so cliff-like, will Alexander still have a chance to crown the FMVP?

In NBA history, there was once a FMVP awarded to a player who lost the finals. The first FMVP in 1969 was awarded to Jerry Wes, who failed the Finals, and the FMVPs since then were all members of the championship team.

The most controversial FMVP was the 2015 Finals. The Warriors defeated the Cavaliers 4-2, and Iguodala, who averaged 16.3+5.8+4 per game, won the FMVP. Curry, the Warriors star, averaged 26+5.2+6.3 per game, but lost to his teammates. James averaged 35.8+13.3+8.8 per game, but missed the FMVP because of the Cavaliers' defeat.
