Having completed a contract renewal with the Lithuanian giants, it is difficult for the former Pistons wing star to return to the NBA?

Lithuanian League giant Zalgiris Kaunas officially announced that former NBA player Deividas Sirvydis has completed a contract renewal with the team. According to the content of the new contract, the winger from Lithuania will play on the team until the 2027-28 season.

Silvedis was born in June 2000 and is about to turn 25 years old. He is 203cm tall and weighs 86kg. He is the wing player selected by the Detroit Pistons in the 37th pick in the second round in the 2019 NBA Draft. However, Sylvedis's performance in the NBA is not ideal. He has been in the NBA for two seasons in total, and has played 23 NBA regular season games for the Pistons. He averaged only 6.9 minutes per game, averaged 1.9 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 0.2 steals, 0.2 turnovers and 0.6 fouls, with a shooting percentage of 30%, a three-point shooting percentage of 31.4%, and a free throw shooting percentage of 50%. Perhaps it is also because the overall performance and progress cannot meet expectations that Sylvedis was given up early by the Pistons in January 2022. Since then, Sylvedis has also completed signing with the Indiana Pacers in the summer of 2022, but was still cut by the team before the NBA regular season began that season.

Silvedis has spent the last two seasons in the Lithuanian League. In the European arena this season, Sylvedis played 75 times in all competitions, averaging 18.3 minutes per game, with an average of 8.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.1 blocks, and 1.1 turnovers and 1.7 fouls. He shot 43.3%, three-point shooting percentage 38.3%, and free throw shooting percentage 66.4%. Sylvedis' overall performance this season is quite good. With limited playing time, he has also shown all his talents. He has good offensive efficiency and comprehensive scoring ability on the offensive end, and he can also keep his three-point shooting percentage at a high level. Sylvedis's performance on the defensive end is also quite good, and he is also capable of taking certain responsibilities on the defensive end.

It seems that Sylvedis has also gained a foothold in the European arena. It is not easy for him to maintain sufficient competitiveness in the Champions League. But on the other hand, it seems that it is becoming increasingly difficult for Sylvedis to return to the NBA arena. He is getting older, but he still has no way to perform at the dominant level and can only be considered a good role player. Such characteristics should be difficult to attract attention from NBA teams. Maybe it will be difficult for us to see Sylvedis appear in the NBA in the future?
