On July 3, the NBA entered the offseason. Earlier today, the Mavericks officially announced that the team signed No. 1 pick Flag. It is reported that the two sides reached a four-year contract of $62.73 million. The Mavericks' new season's lineup is strong and aimed at the championship.

Mavericks officially announced that the team has completed the signing of the new No. 1 pick Cooper Flag. The Mavericks posted videos and photos of Flag's signature. According to team policy, details of Flag's contract are not announced. However, Spotrac, a salary website, shows that Flag's rookie contract is $62.73 million for four years, and his first year's salary is about $13.83 million. Interestingly, Flag's earnings in the rookie season are far from being as good as his freshman season, considering other incomes. In the 2024-25 season, Flag played 37 games for Duke, averaging 30.7 minutes per game, he scored 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks. All six data were the highest in the team, and led Duke to the semifinals of March Crazy. In this year's lottery, the Mavericks won the No. 1 pick with a 1.8% chance, and then they chose Flag without hesitation.

Former Mavericks coach Avery Johnson said of Flag: "If I were the Mavericks, I would have chosen Flag instead of Doncic. The Mavericks' future is bright. If their lineup can stay healthy, the window for the championship will be in the next 2-3 seasons."

The Mavericks' lineup is as follows:

PG: Irving, Russell, Brandon Williams;

SG: Klay Thompson, Christie, Hardy;

SF: Flag, Najib Marshall, Martin;

PF: Davis, PJ Washington, Prospe;

C: Lefley, Garford, Powell.
