The match against Chelsea will determine Australia s fate; Forest fans have already protested by not buying tickets

Hupu, October 16th: TheAthleticUK Nottingham Forest and team reporter Paul Taylor wrote a column on the Australian-Polish crisis.

How much impact does Saturday’s result have?

It feels like this game—or the result of this game—may have a decisive impact on Postkoglu's future. But ultimately, it will depend on Marinakis' mood.

The Nottingham Forest boss has been thinking about his options. This is not unusual—the Greek shipping magnate always likes to have a plan B. Historically, he usually knows who he wants to appoint — and even has a replacement in mind — before deciding to make a change.

According to sources familiar with Marinakis's operations, if he does make a change, he will be inclined to appoint a head coach with extensive Premier League experience who can make an immediate impact.

Former Burnley and Everton manager Sean Dyche is currently unemployed, so salary is not an issue. Dyche guided Burnley to seventh place in the Premier League and recently stabilized Everton's situation when they faced relegation threats. At a time when forests are in trouble, these qualities can be valuable.

But if Postkoglu can immediately turn around the team's decline, the job will still belong to him.

How are the players feeling?

The team had a close relationship with former coach Nuno Espirito Santo and has accepted his departure. But sadness at Nuno's departure is not equivalent to anti-Postkoglu sentiment.

According to sources close to the team, the players are full of expectations for Postkoglu's future - there is currently an atmosphere of uncertainty. But they are also focused on preparing for two important games, with Thursday's Europa League clash against Porto ahead of Chelsea.

Some of the 12 players who were temporarily away due to national team competitions resumed training yesterday. Other players, including Chris Wood, who injured his knee during the national team game, will not be able to return to the team until today.

How will fans react on Saturday? Is there an "Angie Effect" in ticket sales?

As of last night, general admission tickets for Saturday's game were still available. Tickets for Porto's away game are also still available. The tickets have been on sale since Tuesday.

Tickets for both games are likely to be sold out before kick-off, but ticket sales appear to have slowed down (including the only second European home game in 30 years), which may reflect fan sentiment towards Postkoglu, a potentially negative "Angie effect."

Postkoglu has only coached two home games - in his second home game, a 3-2 loss to Midtjylland, he had to listen to Forest fans chanting "You're going to be sacked tomorrow morning."

The Greek-born Australian will have to work hard to win over the fans. Forest's first home game in the Europa League should have been a night of celebration; a landmark moment. The game was memorable, just for the wrong reasons.

Five of the seven games Postkoglu coached were away from home, but he also lost his only home game in charge, to Sunderland (0-1).

In recent years, fans have provided excellent support to the team at the City Stadium. But if Forest get off to a bad start, fan sentiment could change quickly.

The question is, does he know his best lineup?

In the seven games, Postkoglu changed his formation in every game, which may be the most outrageous.

In the six games since his debut defeat to Arsenal, he has made an average of 5.6 changes per game - although that number has fluctuated as he made 10 changes against Swansea City in the Carabao Cup and a further seven changes on his return to the Premier League against Burnley.

Will he continue to use a three-back formation against Chelsea, or will he return to a four-back formation? Is it possible for Murillo to come back? Does Wood's knee injury - which he will assess upon his return to Nottingham - mean Igor Jesus will get another chance?

It's difficult to predict what his team, formation and overall mentality will be like. The "bonds" and understanding Nuno used to talk about are now a distant memory.
