Portuguese Football Association Official: Chelsea midfielder Essugo s right thigh muscle discomfort during training

September 8th Chelsea suffered another injury, and Essugo was injured while accompanying the Portuguese U21 national team. The Portuguese Football Association statement confirmed that Essugo felt discomfort in his right thigh muscle during training.

Previously, Colville was missing for most of the season due to a torn ACL, Palmer was truce due to groin problems, and Drapp, Lavia and Badiacile were also absent. Essugo may also miss the away game against Brentford now. Essugo moved from Portugal Sports to Chelsea for £18.5 million this summer.

The Portuguese Football Association's statement on Essugo reads: "Chelsea midfielder Essugo missed training due to right thigh muscle problems. The injury occurred after training. After evaluation by the Portuguese Football Association's Health and Physical Fitness Department, the player was confirmed to be unable to play."

has not yet won the first starting opportunity since he transferred to Chelsea. He made his appearance on the bench in the Club World Cup this summer against Los Angeles FC, Tunisia Hope and Palmeiras. Essugo was included in the bench by coach Maresca in the first three rounds of the Premier League this season, but has not yet obtained a chance to play.
