May 25th According to talkSPORT, Gary Neville refused to compare with Wrexham and Ryan Reynolds in an interview.

It is reported that Manchester United legends Neville and Beckham have become co-owners of Salford City and are now leading a consortium that will invest a large amount of money into the club. Neville and Beckham worked with Declan Kelly, founder of the consulting firm Consello, and Lord Melvin Davis, president of the Grass Tennis Association. It is understood that the consortium has raised about £11 million to £15 million to improve the level of sport and infrastructure in Salford City over the next five years.

This move sparked a comparison with Wrexham and Birmingham, which also received huge investments from their famous owners. TalkSPORT host and former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan said earlier this month: "They have a window of opportunity because they see what Wrexham does, they see the value of the star effect that brings revenue to Wrexham through Ryan Reynolds and others (Rob McHenny). They see Wrexham's success and they will study their model. Beckham said during a visit to Birmingham that he had never seen such an atmosphere.

Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McHenny acquired Wrexham for £2 million in 2021 and continue to inject funds to support the team's advancement all the way to the Championship from non-league, setting a historic upgrade record.

Salford City owners Neville said that despite the club's funding There has been an increase in investment, but its development model will be different from Wrexham and Birmingham. In 2023, Tom Wagner, founder of hedge fund Knighthead Capital Management, acquired Birmingham, and NFL legend Tom Brady has also become the club's co-owner. Birmingham broke the transfer record in the League One, which helped them achieve brilliant results and win the championship last season.

However, Neville refused to compare Salford City to the two clubs, claiming that Salford City will operate in a different way and no big financial changes are expected.

Speaking about this, Neville said: "Beckham and I decided to continue investing in the next four to five years, which is a commitment we all made. A large amount of funds have been promised in the next four years, but we will not change our budget and it will take two to three years to withdraw from the existing model. You can't directly switch from investment to sustainable operation, players' contracts are usually three years, and you have built a model that can't be easily changed. I think our situation is completely different from Wrexham and Birmingham, especially Birmingham, where they are talking about hundreds of millions of pounds of investment, which is not our plan for Salford City.

"We hope it is a good football program, and we can definitely buy a League One club for the expenses we spend on the club. We didn't do this because we wanted to build a football club from scratch. At the time, Salford had only 100 fans, and we were very respectful to every fan who came to Salford, but they came here because of what we have done over the past decade, which is a great place for us as club owners.

"We can't be accused of lack of spirit or fighting spirit or not spending money on the blade. We will never be blamed like this because we do. We don’t have thousands of long-term followers whose opinions are based on the history of the club. ”
