Mirror: UEFA refuses to reschedule Crystal Palace s UEFA Europa League match

On November 8, the British media "Mirror" reported that UEFA refused to reschedule Crystal Palace's UEFA Champions League match.

Crystal Palace’s League Cup match against Arsenal was originally scheduled for December 16, but has been rescheduled to December 23. However, Glasner and Arteta have both made clear their opposition to the FA's latest proposal, which comes just two days before their Premier League away games against Leeds United and Everton respectively on December 21.

It is understood that both Crystal Palace and Arsenal have submitted formal requests to the Premier League Board of Directors, hoping to advance the two league games to December 20 in order to gain an extra day of rest for the players.

It was revealed that Crystal Palace also made a request to UEFA to move their last UEFA Europa League match against Finnish team Kups (originally scheduled for December 18) to December 17, but this request was also rejected. UEFA insists that all 18 UEFA Champions League final-round matches must kick off on the same date and time.

The decision is a major blow for Crystal Palace as they face the daunting task of convincing the Premier League to reschedule their game against Leeds United. Even if the game is moved forward to December 20, they still have less than 48 hours to prepare for the next game.

At the same time, there will be no further changes to the League Cup quarter-final schedule, and the game between Arsenal and Crystal Palace will be played as scheduled on December 23. Premier League bosses believe the farce is due to the recent expansion of UEFA competitions and that the Premier League fixtures for that weekend have been confirmed before the Carabao Cup fixtures are announced.

Everton and Leeds United are also seeking clarity on their home games against Arsenal and Leeds United, as continued uncertainty will be detrimental to fans hoping to attend these games.

Crystal Palace is currently facing a devilish schedule of playing 4 games in 9 days next month. This tough schedule begins with a home game against Manchester City on December 14, followed by a game against Couples and away trips to Leeds United and Arsenal.
