Mayor of Madrid: Atletico Madrid has the best coach, we will eventually fight for the championship

Hupu September 12th Madrid Mayor Martinez Almeida firmly believes that although Atletico Madrid starts poorly in La Liga, it will eventually fight for the championship. He stressed that the signings the club did “very good” and that head coach Simeone is the best coach the team may have.

As an open supporter of Atletico Madrid, Martinez Almeda asked everyone to continue to trust Simeone because he made great contributions to the club during his fourteen years as the coach. "We have to trust the coach. There are many times when things start badly, but the end result is very good. Given the investments that have been made and Simeone is in the coaching house, it is not the time to cause controversy. The transcripts are to be seen at the end of the year, and people can naturally make the evaluation they want. All new players are great signings, and Simeone is the best." The mayor made these statements to the media at the La Herreria Golf Club in Madrid, where he participated in a charity golf tournament with former tennis player Nadal. He admitted that Atletico Madrid's league starts not ideal, but pointed out that the season is still long: "The signing is excellent, and because we have the best coaches, things will get better, they will get back on track and we will eventually fight for the championship."

Martinez Almeida believes that it is during these difficult times that the Argentine coach needs to be supported and encouraged, rather than waiting until the day he leaves to do so.
