Marlotta: Real Madrid can buy Mastantono Inter Milan for up to 35m, and the economy is difficult to compete

Hupu, October 8th, recently, Inter Milan CEO Marotta attended an event. During an interview with the media, he talked about the two topics of building a new stadium and the overseas competition of Milan and Como.

Regarding the construction of a new stadium, we must have a modern and open attitude, so that we can accept the concept of innovation. It’s clear that we’ve made important progress in key areas, that is, we’re finally able to build a new stadium. This new stadium must meet all modernization requirements, which covers respect for citizens, the manifestation of civic awareness, the adherence to moral concepts and the sustainable development of the environment. These are the basic principles that we must strictly follow. At present, we are still in the process of negotiation and administrative approval, so we cannot disclose more detailed information. We plan to acquire the old San Siro Stadium and its surrounding areas first, and then the entire planning phase will begin. Throughout the process, we will strictly follow these principles and expect to complete the formalities in November.

Serie A overseas matches on Milan and Como

For some time, the San Siro Stadium will not be put into use. Milan and Como chose to play this overseas match mainly to make a new attempt, and also help understand the economic effect of this model. From an ethical and social impact perspective, this game will obviously make Milan and Como fans lose important live viewing opportunities, but this is an attempt that must be made due to force majeure factors. We will evaluate this attempt later.

Serie A signings

The current Serie A league is in a transformation stage, which is very different from the 2000s. In the 2000s, Serie A was the world's top league, but nowadays, superstars often have to wait until they are almost 40 years old before they include Serie A in their career choices. Now, we cannot sign a lot in the transfer market like Real Madrid in La Liga. Real Madrid can spend 60 million to 70 million euros to sign Mastantono, and Italian teams are willing to spend 30 million to 35 million euros when introducing young players around the age of 20.

Serie A powerhouses like Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus, Rome, Naples and Atlanta have to earn funds by selling players. In the past, this situation was very rare, but now it has become a "common" in the financial statements of various clubs. Without the income earned by these players, the club could not produce a financial statement that meets the requirements. This is also the reflection of the huge gap between Serie A and the Premier League. Our league broadcast rights revenue is only 200 million euros at most, while the Premier League broadcast rights revenue can reach 3 billion euros. With the disadvantage of economic strength, Serie A's advantage in competition will naturally gradually be lost.

What are the concerns about Serie A's lack of attractiveness to top stars? Actually, it doesn't. I think Modric is a typical example of having a positive impact on Italian football. When our children and grandchildren see such excellent players, they will definitely fall in love with football. Maybe they will deliberately imitate his movements during training.

It's a pity that the football environment in Italy is getting worse and worse. The Serie A has become a transitional league now, and it is not the "golden paradise" of football as it did in the 2000s. In that era, Serie A was ranked the highest in European competitions and was extremely competitive. The club would sign young talented players and allow them to play for the team until they retired.

But nowadays, top players will only choose to play football in Italy at the late stage of their careers.
