Manchester United CEO talks about new stadium: The government must promise to promote peripheral development simultaneously, and building a stadium alone is meaningless

June 29th, Manchester United CEO Berlada recently accepted an interview with the media and talked about the club's work on building a new stadium.
Earlier this year, Sir Ratcliffe announced a grand plan of £2 billion, with Manchester United planning to build a new home stadium with a capacity of 100,000 people next to the current Old Trafford Stadium. Sir Ratcliffe pointed out that the surrounding renovation plan to develop 17,000 residential and commercial facilities will bring £7.3 billion to the UK economy. However, whether this project to build "Northern Wembley" can be implemented depends on whether public funds can be obtained to support surrounding development.
Berrada emphasized in an interview with RedIssue fan magazine: "We always regard the new stadium as a catalyst for overall regional rejuvenation, so the government must promise to promote surrounding development simultaneously, otherwise it is meaningless to build the stadium separately. This may promote the largest urban renewal plan in the history of the region, bringing all-round improvements in housing, employment, medical care, etc. to the community, and creating huge social benefits. I hope the government can provide financial support."
If the new stadium plan is approved, Manchester United can continue to use Old Trafford during the construction period, and then demolish the 115-year-old legendary stadium after the new home stadium is completed.
Ratcliffe said at the launch of the project: "The home court has made outstanding achievements over a century, but it has lagged behind the world's top stadiums. Through the new construction plan next to the original site, we can not only retain the soul of Old Trafford, but also create a modern stadium that is close to the corner, completely revolutionizing the fan experience."
