September 3: In Capier accepted an exclusive interview with Arsenal's official website after joining Arsenal. I talked about the thoughts of joining, my own position and other issues.

- Piero, welcome to Arsenal, what does joining this club mean to you?

To be honest, it feels great. I am so happy to start a new journey in this amazing club. This is one of the best clubs in the world and I am very honored to be a big club like this.

- What made you decide to join Arsenal?

To be honest, it is the result of the combined action of all factors. I have been paying attention to the Premier League and watching Arsenal games. They have an amazing coach, a group of top players, and I made up my mind because this club is eager to win big honors and trophys, which is a big reason why I come here.

-How important is your conversation with Berta and Arteta when making this decision?

Before communicating with them, I talked to my agent first. I only need one communication with them (Berta, Arteta) and I know that this decision is correct. I am so happy now.

- You are very young, but have accumulated rich experience in Leverkusen. Do you think this is the best time for you to join Arsenal?

I think so. Because I have these valuable experiences. It is obvious that Leverkusen has always supported me and has provided necessary help in order to join a giant like Arsenal. As I said before, I am going to start a new journey in this great club.

-What do you think you can bring to the team?

I think I can bring strong fighting spirit and I will do my job well. I hope to show my abilities like I have over the years and I will do my best for the club.

- Talk about your strengths and your best position

I am best at central defenders, of course, I have played many sidebacks, but I think central defenders are the best for me. As for the advantages, I am very fast and like to drive the ball and can also take on the role of leader on the court.

-You have been a teammate with Zachar in Leverkusen. He was once a core player at Arsenal. Have he talked to you about his experience at Arsenal?

We often chat, but haven't talked about this. But once I took the initiative to ask him about Arsenal and wanted to know about this club. He praised Arsenal very much and shared with me a lot of his feelings here. That conversation struck me very much, and that was a long time ago. He did send me a message recently and he congratulated me on joining the Gunners. He always highly praised Arsenal and his experience here, and he was an excellent captain back then.

-You left your hometown Ecuador at the age of 18 and went to Argentina to play football, and went to Germany at the age of 19. How helpful are these experiences to your new London life?

I think every country and every club are different, and the club has its own philosophy. I think my experience in Argentina helped me a lot in landing in Europe, and Leverkusen opened the door to me and helped a lot when I first joined. These experiences have laid the foundation for me to join this great club now.

-You have played 46 times for the Ecuador national team. Can you talk about your role in the national team?

Actually, I am like many people in the national team, and I am relatively young. We have the same goal, which is to strive for good results. Sometimes there are players younger than me in the national team. Even if we don’t have enough experience, we will still try our best to help them. Just like before, older players have given us a lot of help to enable Ecuador to remain competitive.

- Your national teammate Kesedo has been playing in the Premier League since 2021. Has he talked to you about the situation in the Premier League?

He talked to me a lot. As we all know, the Premier League is the best league in the world. He will definitely encounter some difficulties when he first came here. He has also experienced a period of adaptation, but now he has gained a foothold. We will meet on the field soon and have a good chat then (laughs).

-The club has many Spanish speakers, such as head coach Arteta, assistant coach Heinze, and Raya. Do you think this environment will make you find home in London faster? Looking forward to seeing everyone?

Of course, I look forward to knowing everyone. We will work together and strive for a common goal. I think everyone's pursuit is the same.

-What are your expectations and goals for the new season and the longer future?

First of all, I hope to be able to get along with my teammates as soon as possible, develop a tacit understanding, and spend a successful season. Of course, I also hope to win trophy for this club, prove my value, and leave my own mark. I hope to get into the shape soon and have a good start, which is the most important thing for me.

——Finally, can you say a few words to fans in English? (This interview is in Spanish)

Looking forward to meeting you soon (seeyousuoon).
