, retired professional players in the China League One are also high school students and college students.

27-year-old Changsha native Hou Chao is an employee of a state-owned enterprise and has always had a love for football since he was a child. "I have been in contact with football since the second grade of elementary school. In middle school, I won the provincial and municipal championships on behalf of the school's football team, and also won the third place in the country." He looks forward to fully displaying his professional strength on the "Xiangshang" stage.

Becoming the "training ground" for youth training

"gives the green light" to student players, which is the highlight of this "Xiang Super League" league.

In July, the Hunan Provincial Sports Bureau announced the "2025 Hunan Football League Competition Rules". The regulations stipulate that each team must ensure that there are no less than 3 middle school students playing at the same time, which means that student players are given the "forced play" quota guarantee.

"We want to take this league as an opportunity to further deepen the integration of sports and education, and help Hunan youth campus football develop high-quality. It is not to be lively for a while, but to focus on the long-term cultivation of Hunan football talents, broaden the channels for sports personnel, and give play to the function of football educating, so that young players have the opportunity to exercise and grow in more activities and higher-level events." Lu Heyang, the Department of Sports, Health and Art Education of Hunan Provincial Department of Education, introduced.

"The starting point of this regulation is essentially to use the league system as a lever to leverage the transformation of the Hunan youth football ecosystem." Luo Qiyu, dean of Hunan Sports Vocational College and chairman of Hunan Football Association, said that the practical platform with "Xiangshang" as the core can better connect with events such as the China Youth Championship and the FA Cup, and build a progressive and mutually promoting competition system, so that "Xiangshang" truly becomes the "practical training ground" for youth training.

Leading the "Xiang Chao" economy

League Organizing Committee introduced that the ticket to the "Xiang Chao" League is not only an entrance certificate, but its ticket stub is also a "pass" that can be used in multiple scenarios, connecting event venues, scenic spots, business districts and cultural and creative markets.

"Different from the traditional event's 'watch it and leave', the 'Xiang Super League' transforms the 'instant passenger flow' of a single watch into a 'long-term passenger flow' through preferential linkage and rights extension." In the view of Tan Yanliang, secretary of the Party Committee of Hunan Sports Vocational College, a small ticket "pass" transforms the influence of the event into the city's attraction. The consumption scenarios connected by the events can allow tourists to deeply understand the unique cultural temperament of different cities.

The reporter learned from the online platform that during the opening match of the "Xiangshang" League, the number of air tickets and train tickets bookings in Changsha increased by 35% year-on-year, and the number of five-star hotel bookings increased by 62% year-on-year. The huge driving and radiating effect of events is effectively leveraging local consumption and promoting the rapid growth of surrounding catering, transportation, accommodation, leisure and entertainment, tourism and vacation formats.

"The event economy should not be a flash in the pan, but should become a warming furnace for continuous heating." Tan Yanliang believes that he hopes to build the "Xiang Chao" platform and continuously activate the emotional resonance of citizens, not only to make the quality of sports events higher and higher, but also to make sports a bridge connecting cultural and tourism consumption, so that sports, culture and tourism can truly "join together".

The "Xiang Super League" League was held from September to December, and 14 cities and prefectures in Hunan formed independent teams to participate. The event is divided into two stages: regular season and knockout stage, with a total of 98 games, with games held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
