June 18th "TheAthletic" released the third transfer transaction briefing for the 2025 summer window, including the updates of Chelsea in the past week, the future of Jorge Petrovic, the players Chelsea is paying attention to and may leave the team.

What happened in the past week?

On June 10, the deadline for the initial transfer window, Chelsea's offer to Jamie Gittens was raised to £42 million. The offer did not require the full payment in one lump sum, but was rejected by Dortmund.

But Gittens has agreed with Chelsea on a seven-year contract, and the two clubs have not ruled out the possibility of a future agreement.

Chelsea terminated interest in AC Milan goalkeeper Meinion after not deciding to submit a formal offer. Meanwhile, Chelsea's third goalkeeper Marcus Betinelli has permanently transferred to Manchester City with an undisclosed transfer fee.

Will Chelsea sell Jorge Petrovic?

Chelsea is open to this. There is a gentleman agreement between the player and the club, and if someone bids £25 million (€30 million) he can leave.

Which position/player is Chelsea focusing on? The team's priority is still a right foot left winger. They are also looking for an all-round attacker in the market, and any signing on the defensive end will depend on the player's departure.

As for the current situation, Gittens is obviously the most likely candidate to fill the winger role, as negotiations are underway.

Other candidates on the attack line include Frankfurt forward Ekitic, West Ham United center Kudus and 23-year-old Brighton forward Pedro. As TheAthletic reported on Monday, Chelsea has also verbally inquired about Lyon player Fofana.

RB Leipzig player Sesco is a player Chelsea has been following for three years, but he has been moved out of his wish list since they signed Drapp. His playing style is considered similar to Drapp.

Which players may leave the team?

This long list includes most of Chelsea's players who were loaned out last season, except Andre Santos. Specifically, it includes: Rahim Sterling, Renato Vega, Armando Bloa, Ben Chilwell, Kani Chukvimeka, Axel DiSassi, Joao Felix, Alfie Gilchrist and Leslie Ugochuku.

The players participating in the Club World Cup may also be sold, with Christopher Nkunku seeking a transfer, while Trevo Chaloba and Kiernan Dusbury Hall may want to go elsewhere to seek a stable main position.

As revealed last week, Kendri Pais will join Strasbourg on loan for one season. Midfielder Matis Amuku, who was purchased from Saint-Etien in January, will also join the team. England U21 goalkeeper Teddy Sharman Lowe will be loaned to join the Bolton Wanderers in the English League after agreeing to renew a new two-year contract.

Other talented players from the U21 echelon will also leave the team permanently. Donnell McNelly rejected a new contract to join another club, and Leo Castledaine also plans to switch to his team.

The offer does not require full payment in one lump sum, and in any case, this price is not high enough for Dortmund. But Gittens has agreed with Chelsea on a seven-year contract, and the two clubs have not ruled out the possibility of a future agreement.

My colleague Thom Harris said: "The 20-year-old scored eight goals and contributed three assists last season at Dortmund
