According to reports: Arsenal will initially contact 25-year-old Brazil international Alessandro Ribero this summer

According to reports, Arsenal has begun the first step in introducing Lille center back Alessandro Ribero. The 25-year-old has been playing in Ligue 1 since transferring from Chavez to Ligue 1 in the summer of 2022.

In 122 games, Alexandro contributed 5 goals and 2 assists. One goal and two assists were completed in 47 matches of the recently concluded 2024-25 season, including one goal and one assist in 30 matches in the Ligue 1, with Bruno Genesio’s side ranked fifth in the Ligue 1.

Although the contract with Pierre Moroy Stadium expires in 2028, the Brazilian international has attracted the Gunners' interest. According to UOL (via Metro), Arsenal's scouts watched the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in mid-week where Brazil beat Paraguay 1-0 at home. The report also mentioned that Serie A champion Naples is also competing for Alessandro. When asked about his future in Lille earlier this week, the player said:

"It depends on (Lille) President (Olivier) Le Don. You have to ask him. I'm calm and don't rush to leave. He will decide my future."

Although Lille is eligible for next season's Europa League, the transfer to Arsenal will give Alessandro a chance to compete in the Champions League.

How does Arsenal's goal Alessandro evaluate Lille coach Genesio?

Lille defender Alessandro is passionate about the development of his club owner Bruno Genesio. The former Lyon midfielder took over Paul Fonseca to Pierre Moroy last summer.

Under Genesio, Alessandro spent his best season at the club and told BeFootball at the end of the 2024-25 season:

"He also helped me a lot outside the court. We often chatted together. He tried to understand me. It helped me a lot on the court. He talked to every player every week. He would come to talk to you whether you need it or not. If he felt he was a little sad to see you, he would come here too. Try to understand what's going on."

The Arsenal goal added:

"I love him so much, I hope he has a lot of good things because he deserves it. He is kind-hearted. He is a great coach. I hope we can work together next year and we can achieve great things again."

Alessandro made his debut with the national team this month, helping Ancelotti's team conceded in two games, defeating Paraguay at home five days later.
