Puyol: I rarely talk about football with my family. My two daughters only recently learned that I played for Barcelona

November 14th: In an interview, former Barcelona captain Puyol revealed that he rarely talks about football with his family.

Which is your most memorable goal? Which goal will be most memorable to your family?

I rarely talk about football with my family. In fact, my two daughters did not know that I played for Barcelona until recently because the eldest was born when I was preparing to retire and the younger was born after I had already retired.

So what is your most unforgettable goal?

There aren't many choices. One was a goal against Germany in the 2010 World Cup semi-finals. In addition, I scored a very similar goal at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. My goal gave Barcelona a 2-1 lead and almost won the La Liga championship in advance (Barcelona eventually defeated Real Madrid 6-2 away from home).

The two goals are very similar. Is the Barcelona goal a tactic you discussed in advance?

This was a tactic formulated two minutes before the opening. Coach Vilanova stopped me, Xavi, and Pique, and told us to use this tactic if we get a free kick from the wing. As a result we managed to score.
